Do curl defining shampoos, conditioners and mousses ACTUALLY work?

i have straightish hair and used to like to scrunch it but recently, it doesn't curl as good as it used to.

i was just wondering if using curl defining volumising mousses and stuff ACTUALLY work???

if they do, could you reccommend any to me?

thanks =)Do curl defining shampoos, conditioners and mousses ACTUALLY work?
Yes, they will give it ';body';, meaning that they leave behind something on the hair that binds with it and makes it have more ';tension';, so that it will hold a shape longer.

Your straight hair has not ';tension';, its completely relaxed and will not hold anything unless you put a gel, or something that ';stiffens'; the hair. By putting on these products you ';coat'; each hair and its the coating that holds the hair in place. Once the coating is gone, (either washed out, or reduced by sweat), then you lose the ';binding quality'; of the hair shampoo.

Gels and mousse are different. You dont ';wash'; them out, as they stay in the hair like a glue that will hold any shape that you want. (Mohawks are a great example). You ';have'; to wash that mess out of your hair, as ordinary sweat wont affect the glue like capacity in the gel or mousse.

Sorry I cant recommend a good product, as my darling Daughter who has a lot of ';body'; in her hair WANTS IT STRAIGHT! Go Figure! sheesh!

I wish you well...

JesseDo curl defining shampoos, conditioners and mousses ACTUALLY work?
yes they do work but only if you have hair with some bit of a wave/kink in it to begin with!

i would suggest layering your hair.if your hair is long it can be too heavy to curl (especially if you have thick hair)

i would recommend either john frieda or else shockwaves curl defining mousse (its cheaper and it does work!)
i have no idea, i'm a guy with medium-length hair, and i like to keep it straight.
hi, i think this is a very gud option it will work trust me. my sister uses it and its been about 2-3years and no prob lemo. prices are gud and i suggest that you use Vo5 hair mousse. wid a little foam on the spot of you hair, it will stary getting a little soft and start curling in secs.
no they don't but tesco's mouse does its cheap to but amazingly it works better than all the other stuff!x!good luck x
I would go with copperpin's answer I'm a hairdresser to and I agree.
it depends how good they are. the brand name matters. sorry.. i can't help you with curl defining things, because i hate my curly hair, i straighten it.
the tigi curls rock stuff is really good
Nope, if you have natural curls, there are things to make them look defined, but if you don't have curls, the best thing is a curling iron (trust me, I've tried about 10 different products)
Yes ***-wipe

I have SLIGHTLY wavy hair (almost straight). Will curl enhancing shampoos, etc make it wavier? ?

Any recommendations? Thanks xI have SLIGHTLY wavy hair (almost straight). Will curl enhancing shampoos, etc make it wavier? ?
I have really straight hair.

On days I want my hair wavy, I use John Freida brilliant brunette shampoo and conditioner, like every day. Then, I towel dry my hair, and DON'T comb it. If you HAVE to comb it, try your fingers or a REALLY wide tooth comb. I comb out my bangs, though. I spray **Sunsilk waves of envy ocean mist** throughought my hair, and scrunch it. It gives my hair body and amazing waves, without making it crunchy or dirty. Then i just let it airdry. If you sprayed too much and your hair is a liitle tough, blowdry on cool for a little, it softens them.

Seriously, waves of envy is all you need!I have SLIGHTLY wavy hair (almost straight). Will curl enhancing shampoos, etc make it wavier? ?
Aww! Haha, sorry! (I live in Canada, though =P) I'm sure theres some sort of a spray wave product that would have a simliler effect! Report Abuse

I had the same style hair, it got on my nerves... wasn't straight wasn't wavy!! :@ Haha

I tried a load of different shampoos and conditioners including quite expensive ones but none seemed to work. In the end i got bored and now i have a bob :)
Honestly, none of them really work.

Do shampoos and conditioners designed for curl enhancement reduce the length that your hair falls??

I have really curly and frizzy hair, and i want my hair to drop drop more instead of curling up really high and making it seem shortDo shampoos and conditioners designed for curl enhancement reduce the length that your hair falls??
I would suggest that you use a de-frizzing system, like a shampoo, conditioner and product set. Swich them once a month to prevent build-up though. Aso try buying a brush that says it's straightening, and use it when you blow dry.Grow your hair out, and don't get trims but every four months, when you have to in order to prevent split ends.Do shampoos and conditioners designed for curl enhancement reduce the length that your hair falls??
the curl will be enhanced, which means it will be tighter curl giving you a shorter look.

I would suggest either letting it good out a little or while wet pull your hair downward while blow drying.

but to me!! your hair sounds like a dream! if its cut properly and

if it matches you! then dont change a thing!
NO! SHAVE YOUR HEAD

Will my hair curl if I wash it with shampoo for curly hair?

I have wavy hair, and i was wondering if I washed it with, say, Herbal Essences Totally Twisted shampoo (for curly hair) and used the conditioner that goes with it, would it make my hair a little curlier than usual or just leave it the same? and what if i wash it with shampoo for straight hair, like the Dangerously Straight one from Herbal Essences, would it make it straighter than usual? Thanks!!!

ps. what would you recommend (other than braiding and paper bags) to make my hair curl a little more than usual? especially over night? thanks!!!Will my hair curl if I wash it with shampoo for curly hair?
No, shampoos for curly hair are formulated to enhance curls and usually control frizz. If your hair isn't curly it won't make it curly. If your hair isn'tstraight the shampoo won't make it straight. It will only make whatever type of hair your have easier to manage depending on the typical prolems for that typer of hair. There is nothing really other than braiding or twisting your hair that would make it curly. You could get an actual perm and that would give your hair a semi permenant curl to it. Hope this helps ;-))))))Will my hair curl if I wash it with shampoo for curly hair?
ialso tried the purple herbal essences for curly hair and i didnt think it curlied my hair at all but it sure smells good:) but i found out on ayoutube vid that if you put your hair into a bun and sleep with it over night it make your hair a little curlier..i tried it and it acturally works.but sometimes theres curls that are kinda ugly but at least you dont have to use any heat.i'll send you the youtube vid:)
it just helps you maintain your curly hair. and dangerously straight does not work. i've tried it and it just left my hair soft and it smelt nice but didnt make it straighter.

the best way to get even more curlier hair would be just to french braid. it really does work. better then normal braid. just leave it overnight.
no, I don't think.

You could scrunch it, but don't make it the regular crunchy way because that doesn't look natural, I would use a light gel instead.

Also, you could get a small barreled curling iron and curly your hair, you could find a tutorial on youtube.
i have tht totally twisted shampoo, and i washed my hair with it a like 7 2day and then i put in some totally twisted curl boosting moose (by Herbal Essenes) and my hair i somewhat more curly than normal.
Yes, herbal essences will leave it more curly or straight. (I have curly hair and it makes my hair wavy so it is MUCH less heat I use. and when I want it curly is leaves it WILD because my hair is already so crazy.)
No, i don't think so.

I think the shampoo is for if you are going to curl your hair, so it makes it easier.

Does Herbal Eseence Totally Twisted Shampoo and Conditioner Help Define Curls without the Frizz?

Hi im 15 im a guy and im Black and native american

But my hair is another thing

Its Very Frizzy i mean Very Frizzy

My hair is usually Dry and Unmanagable

And coarse

So i was looking around For products i can get

And i heard that This works good

my hair is So curly when i wet it

But once it dries it gets So frizzy then Dry again

So will this Give me

Soft Managable defined Curly Hair without the Frizz

Or does it suck

Because i was gonna get Sunsilk Captivating Curls De Frizz lines but i dont know if that works.Does Herbal Eseence Totally Twisted Shampoo and Conditioner Help Define Curls without the Frizz?
I heard the sunsilk hydrating curls conditioner (i think thats the name) works wonders for defining curls. Are you combing/brushing your hair while its drying or while it is dry. Combing/brushing curls when they are dry is what creates frizz. Try skipping the shampoo and co-washing instead. Leave a bit of the conditioner in your hair, do not rinse all of it out and let your hair air dry without touching. If you need to detangle than do it while your hair is wet and full of conditioner and then rinse, but do not rinse out all of the conditioner. You will be left w/ smooth, moisturized, frizz free, and defined curls.

What shampoos/conditioner actually work to curl?

i have wavy hair and im always curling it (or scrunching it) with spray moose or gel . i was wondering if there are any shampoos and conditioners that will curl your hair?? i tried herbal essences totally twisted 2 in 1 but it didn't work plus i hate the smell of it! hope you guys can help out . thanksWhat shampoos/conditioner actually work to curl?
Washing only with conditioner will help with making your hair more curly and clarifying once a week with shampoo will help with eliminating build-up. You can pretty much use any conditioner you want to use when going conditioner only. What shampoos/conditioner actually work to curl?
No such thing. Products DO NOT curl hair.
Up to this point, there isn't a good product for hair like that. Sorry

Thanks (:Curling Shampoo?
well first thing is that no matter what shampoo you use nothing is going to really make your hair more curly unless you use a curling iron or something along that line. However a very good shampoo for hair that is curly is Curls Rock by TIGI

It has the same ingredient that curling mascaras have in them. It really helps with curl definition.

They also make a curl creme to enhance your natural texture.

Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine.

Redken Fresh Curls curling shampoo.
Use the Paul Mitchell curling line. It's amazing.

Is there any hair product - like shampoo, mousse, etc. - that would give my curls some definition?

My hair isn't completely curly; it's just got little ringlets at the bottom :)..the rest is straightIs there any hair product - like shampoo, mousse, etc. - that would give my curls some definition?
Head to you local salon and pick up some curl enhancing supplies. There's TIGI CatWalk Curl shampoo/conditioner, Curl Amplifier, there's even a hairspray for curls. There's, Sexy Hair Concept Curly Sexy Hair shampoo/conditioner etc. There's also Matrix Curl.Life with some great cremes for defining your curls.

Since you don't have time to air-dry every morning, use a diffuser on your dryer, it will enhance your curls more. Make sure you scrunch your curls as you dry them. If your unsure how to use one, takl to your stylist, she would be able to show you what to do. I hope this helps. u cn get any in4 abt curls n curlproducts here-www.naturallycurly.com
what I use is John Frida Curl Definition spray, and scrunch it afterwards. Also, try some sort of curl-enhancing gel and use it while your hair is still wet, and scrunch afterwards. Oh, and blow drying is not good for curly hair, let it air dry.
I use pantene curl definition it works really well
do perm ur hair .its gud or else apply mousse
Try using serum. It's clear and doesnt make it greasy. A friend used it on her curly hair and it always looked gorgeous and i use it on my straight hair just so its smoother.
ok i put moouse at the very ends then put some curling gel through all my hair that im curling (if its the whole head then you'll need about a tennis ball sized amount)curl then add just a dab around the bend of the curl

  • What is the best shampoo/conditioner line for loose curls (from drugstores)?

I have curly hair, semi-long ( I want to grow it out ) and its thin. I have frizz problems often and my curls are getting dull. I want nice, loose curls.

I don't know what haircare line to get though, or mix. I need a shampoo and conditioner, of course, for curly hair or something that would help my situation. And by ';line'; I mean they also have things like leave in conditioner, styling gel, spray, mousse, anything. I can also mix products but they have to be available at drugstores.

I know lines like Herbal Essences ';Tousle me Softly'; and Pantene/Aussie/etc. for curls but I don't know which one is best. I need something that won't make my hair crunchy but have nice soft loose curls that are defined and won't cause a lot of frizz. What is the best shampoo/conditioner line for loose curls (from drugstores)?
I use tousle me softly and i absolutley love it. it dosent make you'r hair super curly, it makes it look natural and wavy

What are good curl shampoos that work?

any oness that you let your heart lead

Can i use biolage daily leave in tonic to refreshen curls between shampooing?

what is that? if its a conditioner type of thing i wouldn't recomend it. it could weigh your hair down and make it look kind of greasy. Can i use biolage daily leave in tonic to refreshen curls between shampooing?
sure, its a leave in, be careful of build up though. If your curls are thirsty like mine, then you really shouldn't have a problem. Myself, I'm cheep, so I use sunsilk 24-7 cream. That stuff is awesome. I have used a regimen of biosilk before, because it makes it easy to comb in the mournings. Also, you can try pink oil moisturizer. Its good for curl styles and not too expensive.

I don't think it's really possible to achieve hair like that from just a shampoo. You need to use curling irons or rollers.

I think maybe Garnier Fructis is good; or possibly some Pantene/Loreal. I'm not an expert on hair care (hey that rhymes!), or something of the other, but to my knowledge, I am positive that the results will be satisfactory. :)
No shampoo and conditioner is going to completely straighten hair, but they can help make it more manageable. My favorites are the Control Freak line by TIGI.

purology super straight. Also, try catwalk styling cream and spray if you want to wear your hair curly

ok, i have thin blonde hair, i straighten my hair VERY often, and just about every day during the school year. my hair is suprisingly tough though like if i use conditioner it will never be staticy even though i use flat irons. So Basically i want a shampoo that will make my hair more straight if possible, that will heal my hair through damage, and conditioner like that. Also Any good Curling Iron Brand names or specific hair curling iron? Also how do you curl your hair. Also any really good hair sprays?!?!Many Hair Product questions including shampoos, conditioners, and curling irons, and hair sprays!!!?
    Lol!

I use Tresseme shampoo for all hair types, and follow up with a conditioner for dry/damaged hair. My hair doesn't get extremely oily, and it's still soft. And their hair spray works wonders ^_^

    Curling iron/straightener brand = Revlon

And you curl your hair by taking the curling iron and about a 1 inch strip piece of hair. Take the hair and wrap the end of your hair around the iron, and close the clamp. Roll the hair up until it's about 1/2 inch away from your head for big curl, and about 2 inches away for smaller curls, and hold for 5-10 seconds. Repeat. ^_^

Is There A Shampoo That Temporary Curls Your Hair? Like A Perm?

i asked my mother if i can get a perm. (im asian, with long hair) because im at the point in high school where i want to be different (yeah i kind of realized it) so i grew out my hair because you see a lot of boys with short hair, id be one of the few with long hair, but now asian boys with long hair have straight hair, if i can get it curly, afro- like but still soft and silky as if i just unbraided my hair, that would be cool, but for temporary for like a day or a week maybe, i dont want to get a perm because i know its going to stick around for a long time. so yeah are there any hair shampoo or anything that i can find in walgreens that will make my hair afro-like temporary? thanks.

They do make a shampoo, its called Wash and Curl. However, with your hair type it's not going to give you the effect you are going for. Asian hair is typically very smooth and straight and doesn't hold a curl well. I would try applying a texturizing product and braiding your hair in small braids, do you know a friend who does cornrows? Let it dry thoroughly, spray with hairspray and take out, then back comb to get the effect you are going for.Is There A Shampoo That Temporary Curls Your Hair? Like A Perm?
No shampoo wash and curl doesn't exist any more plus you have to put curlers in your hair also until they dry. But I use a barrel waver on my hair. It has three barrels on it in the shape of a straightener made by Vidal Sassoon. It is the best ever most people thing its natural. I can't seem to find it on VS web site but you can find it a target and other stores like that.
Yeah i think Herbal Essences makes one...
yea im not exacly sure what its called but there's a shampoo that makes your hair temp curly ive seen it at long's before never used it though
I dont know of any personally, but ask around

preferably at maybe a barbar shop where they tend to that stuff.

Which shampoo/conditioner/etc line that claims to help hair curl (and hold curls!) actually works?

I have wavy hair and want to make it more bouncy and curly.

Do any of those product lines actually work?Which shampoo/conditioner/etc line that claims to help hair curl (and hold curls!) actually works?
marc anthony strictly curly. it's in a yellow bottle.they also have conditioner and styling products. they have it for strait hair too. i use it and it works great!! my hair is so soft now!Which shampoo/conditioner/etc line that claims to help hair curl (and hold curls!) actually works?
Best way to get your hair bouncy and curly (most of the products don't work or make your hair very sticky) is to comb it out as you usually do wet, and put it back up in the towel while you do other things keeping the weight off the hair makes it MORE curly and bouncy. The fast trick if your in a hurry, is to crunch your hair often while blow drying upside down. Keep grabbing bunches of your hair and clenching them with your finger tips as you dry. this help relieve some of the weight to keep it more curly. You can also apply a small amount of your favorite hair product just as styling gel, moose , root boost etc to give it a soft lock. And if your hair is dry and you need a quick touch up, just mist with a spray bottle and crunch some more and boom, the spring is back.
Garnier works. My sister has extremely uncontrollable curly hair and this simple green product has worked for her. My friend also has curly hair, and her curls look amazing! Of course, everyone's hair if different and the product may have different effects for different people, however, I believe it is worth a try. Use it for a couple weeks and see the difference. Hope all works well!!
i recommend using either suave defensive curls shampoo/conditioner or herbal essences none of your frizziness shampoo/conditioner. i use both of these, and my hair looks like carrie underwoods! the frizz one takes out frizz and enhances your curls. or try a salon product. theyre expensive, but not tested on animals.!!

redkens 'all soft' line is amazing. it brought my damaged highlighted hair back to life.and made it super shiny and soft. if your hair is naturally curly, it should grow back that way. but the all soft will definitly help it be more manageable and healthy until then.

Its not dead. Just uncared for. Your poor hair!

leave it alone! Be natural :]
I'm pretty sure that strait, curly, fine, thick, or wavy hair depends on the actual shape of the shaft of hair. Your hair will not forget because it's biological. Flat strands result in curly hair, round result in strait etc. Your born with the way your hair will always be. So, once it grows out your back in business. I don't have curly hair so I can't give any useful advice. Sorry.

honey, your hair is dead cells. It has been dead. Try and get pantene conditioner. It works for me, it really depends on what will work on you. Try some Suave anti-friz hair stuff, too.
Yeah.... hair IS dead. Some just have better dead hair than others. Once it leaves the scalp, it's dead.

If you go to a local salon, or a local beauty supply, they will have great stuff. Plus, even grocery stores that sell hair shampoos and conditioners have a section where they sell the great but expensive products. Target does.

The description on the hair product bottle should tell you if it's what you need. Otherwise if you go to a beauty supply place, or salon, ask someone there about what they'd recommend. They would recommend a product they sell.

Best curl enhancing shampoo/conditioner for black/asian hair?

I generally wear my hair straight and I straighten it a whole lot. I would like to wear my hair natural now. It's naturally curly, most of it is tight curls and some of it is just nappy lol. But I'd like to find out how I can make all of my hair in tight curls instead of wearing it straight all the time. I'm black and asian with medium length hair, and it's super thick and also grows alot when it's curly! Slightly damaged also, needs moisture and some split ends. I was looking at ';Captivating Curls'; by Sunsilk and ';Totally Twisted'; by Herbal Essences. Any help is appreciated!Best curl enhancing shampoo/conditioner for black/asian hair?

    Best curl-defining shampoo?

My curls are very loose (they're barrel curls) however I have quite a bit of frizz, so I'd like a shampoo+conditioner to define the curls and minimize my frizz. It has to smell good, too. Tell me what works for you! Please include pictures if you can!!! Thanks!Best curl-defining shampoo?
You can use Herbal Essences, Non of your frizness or Herbal Essences, Totally twisted, they both work great and I wouldent recomend anything else.Best curl-defining shampoo?
yes herbal essencses works and tresemme anti-frizz secert

Have you tried curl and wash shampoo? does it work?

yes and no. Yes it works..but not like they claim. All it does is make your hair more easy to curl after you wash it. it does NOT curl your hair.Have you tried curl and wash shampoo? does it work?
Yes, I have and it is a ripoff. Nothing like the commercial. It helps curl your hair better when you you use a curler, but doesn't curl your hair. Don't buy it.

Would using a straightening shampoo and products help tame my wild curls? I want to try out a shorter hair cut?

I have the great fortune of having ambidextrous hair. Blessed 鈥?or so I'm told 鈥?with natural curls, I can pull off five-minute hair with the best of 'em just by doing a quick scrunch with quality curling gel and a blow dryer.

Doing my hair straight? A much more laborious experience. And if I let my hair dry naturally? Disaster.

As such, I've become an admitted product whore, trying pretty much everything I can get my hands on to both create defined curls and smooth frizzies for straightened hair.I think I've road tested probably every gel, serum, pomade, cr猫me, wax and everything in between in an effort to get my hair to do whatever it was that I wanted it to do ... everything except curling and straightening shampoos, that is.

Apparently, this would become the next frontier in my hair battle.

Bumble %26amp; Bumble has both a Curl Conscious shampoo and conditioner formulated with ingredients that require you to have a linguistics degree to pronounce, but suffice it to say, they're purported to encourage shiny, frizz-free curls that start developing the moment you step out of the shower. And to that I say, mission accomplished. I was pretty much astonished at the quality of curl I had after blow drying, and when I later added their defining cr猫me? Even better.

Meanwhile, Aveda has a Be Curly line that claims to reduce frizz and define curl up to 57%. I invested in their Be Curly Kit, which has shampoo, conditioner, enhancer and control. Ditto what I said above. I don't know what it is they've done to make their hair care encourage my 'do to be so rich and full, but it's seriously never looked this good. The flipside to their curly line is Smooth Infusion, of which I picked up their shampoo and conditioner. It also does a miraculous job of pulling my hair in the direction I want it to go in, relaxing my curls and getting any frizz to calm for optimum straightening with a round-brush and hair dryer.

Often times, the promises a product makes are largely bogus ... but these are proof that every once in a while, the advertising fits the bill.Would using a straightening shampoo and products help tame my wild curls? I want to try out a shorter hair cut?
No, probably not. The straightening shampoos, in my experience, are meant to be used in conjunction with a straightener or something (so the shampoo alone won't do it). Also, I've noticed that especially the conditioners that ';straighten'; are very heavy - I think this might be the only real reason why they might work. They're all probably made for people with hair that is maybe a little wavy. All it might do for you is weigh it down a little bit, but if your curls really are ';wild'; I wouldn't cut it short. You'd have an afro.Would using a straightening shampoo and products help tame my wild curls? I want to try out a shorter hair cut?
ya my friend is puertorican and she has crazy hair and she used straightening shampoos for like 2months straight and wen she lets her hair air dry its not that crazy curly anymore. use more the conditioner then the shampoo and leave the conditioner in for almost the whole shower
probably not i think straightening shampoo's are made for people who straighten there hair.....you can go to what ever place you get your hair cut and get your hair permanently straighten it does less damage to your hair then straightening it everyday.
try sleek by matrix. shampoo conditioner and mask. also a smoothing serum from biolage is good.
It will tame them but not forever, I got a shorter cut and it was easier to tame my curls
should help at least a little, straightening iron ftw like peoples abuv me says
hair straightening iron for the win.

Definitely. My sister uses it and her hair looks great everyday. Plus, it looks much more healthier than it did before. (A really good effect it gives is that it defrizzes your hair.) But only try it out if you have curly to wavy hair.Catwalk curls rock shampoo?

yes, their is a line a Bath %26amp; Body I forgot what it's called but they do have it, in that line they have shapoo and conditioner along with a gell. Shampoo's, including Herbal essence CAN'T curl hair. No matter how much you put in your hair.

Is there such thing of a shampoo that actually curls your hair??

if so where do i buy it and wats it calledIs there such thing of a shampoo that actually curls your hair??
yes but it does a crappy job and sometimes doesnt do anything to some ppl's hair. you can get it in american wal mart, although here in australia we can't get it. your better off getting curlers or getting a perm. now days both those options are ok on your hair too.Is there such thing of a shampoo that actually curls your hair??
Not really. Shampoos, conditioners and other products marketed for curly hair are basically used to enhance curl that is already naturally in the hair.

Why does curled hair straightens when shampoo is applied?

the weight of the water and shampoo pulls down on the hair, straightening it, like when you pull on a slinky

Does garnier fructis curl and shine shampoo and con. work?

cause i have curly hair but not the kind everybody likes(puffy, frizz, and i have thick hair) so if anybody used this product, does it work?Does garnier fructis curl and shine shampoo and con. work?
Its not a miracle shampoo or anything, but it does help. Get some Frizz Ease to use on your hair while its still wet . That helps a bunchDoes garnier fructis curl and shine shampoo and con. work?
    yup
    yes it does.
im sure it helps but the best trick if ur hair is reallly thick, is to use a straightening conditioner... it wont straighten ur hair...trust me.. but it will calm it down ALOT so that it wont be so puffy and thick... pantene prove ';extra-straight'; is AWESOME it makes ur hair sooooo soft... i never used to just let my hair dry on its own until i got this stuff... give it a try and if it doesnt work...try somethin else...ps if u use the garnier....use mousse or something after u wash ur hair...the shampoo n conditioner only go so far...good luck!!!

What is a nice shampoo that MAKES your hair curly; or brings out your curls more?

No shampoo will MAKE your hair curly, no matter what anyone says.-but curl life by Matrix will bring out some curl in your hair if you have any, also comes with a styling cream- then let your hair air dry for 10-15 minutes scrunching it every few minutes.Dry the rest of the way with a diffuser on the end of your dryer-that should do it!What is a nice shampoo that MAKES your hair curly; or brings out your curls more?

i'm about 5'0 and have brown hair, and my hair is really straight. i always wanted it to be curly, but i don't want to have to take the time to use a curling iron every day. help! i have a lot of hair so using a curling iron would take forever to do all my hair. Can anyone tell me a good shampoo i can use that will naturally curl my hair?
There's no such thing, honestly. Curl shampoos are for women that already HAVE curly hair to make it curl better...honestly a shampoo cant curl your hair. Use caruso molecular steam rollers, you can find them on ebay...they work really well and only have to be left in your hair for about 10 minutes...its curled by the time you are done doing your makeup. I have stick straight hair and have used these rollers for years and years. Can anyone tell me a good shampoo i can use that will naturally curl my hair?
there really isn't a shampoo.. try a perm... good luck!
Shampoos made for curly hair only work if your hair is at least wavy. All they do is harness the curl you already have. Sorry.

P.S. Using a curling iron everyday will also fry your hair. Looks like genetics were just plain mean on this.

What is the best shampoo to use in order to grow curls (curly hair)?

Unfortunately, you cannot ';grow'; curly hair. However, if your hair is slightly curly and you need something to enhance it, try Redken Fresh Curls. They also make a gel, hairspray, and conditioner!

Good luck! What is the best shampoo to use in order to grow curls (curly hair)?
theres this shampoo thats called wash n curl ';the curling shampoo'; i dunno if it works though but i see it on t.v alotWhat is the best shampoo to use in order to grow curls (curly hair)?
Theres no why to actually ';grow'; curls. Either you hair will be curly or not. But you can use curl enhancing shampoos and conditioners, and styling products which should work. Or just go get a perm.
if you have somewhat wavy hair, like me, just take gel and scrunch your hair. my hair becomes curly when i do that...but all peoples hair is different, try it out

also you can try to braid your hair into sections and sleep on them over night and take it out in the morning

or, take your hair and put them into tiny buns at night and take them out the next day
you can't grow curls, you either add them with curlers, or they fall naturally
i didn't know you could grow curly hair....hahaha.....ummmm..... you can't grow curly hair.
hey weve got the same hair lol
Shampoo will not make your hair GROW curlier. That's genetics (either you hair is curly or it's not).

There are shampoos out there that will enhance curly hair, just as there are shampoos that help straighten it. Pick one that is best suited to your hair type, i.e. dry, oily, coloured, etc.

If you want more curl, use curlers or a curling iron...if you want longer lasting curls, go to a salon and get a perm.
you cant grow curls if you have straight hair, sorry. But you can use a product with that removes buildup, usually called clarifying or clean formula, and let hair dry natually. if you have some natural curl or waves this will help it to come out. you can use lightweight mousse or gel to encourage the curl.
Shampoo can't make your hair grow no matter what the label says. It only cleans your hair, nothing more.Try Paul Mitchell Super Strong.
i'm not sure if it works and how long it lasts, but i've seen tv commercials for ';wash n' curl shampoo';, which is supposed to curl straight hair. who knows??
pantene (it say someting curls on it though good luck)
dog poo + shampoo just mix both together and there you go
Tressemme has a range which compliment curly hair. I can't remeber it's specific name but check out the shelves.
there is a shampoo and conditioner out there called ';wash n curl'; I have used it and it works, but, take it from experience you will have to use it every day, because once you stop your hair looses the curl. the other suggestion would be to go an get a loose curl perm. my hair can usually hold one for about 6 months before having to get it renewed. plus with use of the shampoo ';wash n curl'; it always looks so natural.
You can't grow curls if you don't have naturally curly hair. But to help enhance natural curls, I swear by Pantene 2 in 1 for Naturally Curly/Wavy hair.
    You cant grow curls!!! LOL
If your hair is straight with no curl to it at all, there is no shampoo to make your hair curly. The best a shampoo can do is to enhance curl that is already there. So, you can either live with straight hair, curl it every day, or get a home perm or a salon perm to make it curly.
first of all u cant grow curls LOL u hav 2 hav naturally or make em with a curling iron or u know

    i hav medium curly hair/straight

natural hair is wats the best
If you have curly hair and you want to grow it try Aussie 3 minute miracle, which will smooth it out.
    idk...dove
Curly hair comes from the angle the root grows in the scalp. You can't grow curly hair from shampooing. However, some good hair stylists can cut your hair where it will take advantage of any 'cowlicks' that will make the hair wave and look less straight.
Natural curls happen because one side of the hair shaft grows faster then the other side thus creating a curl. No shampoo can cause this naturally.

By no means will tresemme curl moisturizing products will damage your hair. If anything, it will make it more silker becuase curly hair is usually more dryer and frizz prone compared to straight hair. You can definately use these products to give your hair more shape and bounce. You can still straighten your hair as you normally would. There are no harmful chemicals that can ruin you hair... don't worry

    A Good Curl Enhancing Shampoo?

I would like to know what a good curl enhancing shampoo is. I have mostly straight hair but it is starting to get some curl especially on the inside. I only air dry my hair and hate to use heat on it. So I would like to find a shampoo to help my hair curl even more.A Good Curl Enhancing Shampoo?
If you are open to using a product (while still air drying) I have two recommendations:

I love Tresemme's Curl Definition. You put it in after you have towel dried your hair and just scrunch and let dry.

For a more natural wavy look I use Bumble and Bumble Sea Salt Spray on damp hair and again just scrunch and air dry.

I have naturally curly hair and to be honest, I haven't found a single curl enhancing shampoo that works (and I've tried dozens regular and salon brands) but these products work very well.A Good Curl Enhancing Shampoo?

IS there a shampoo that curls your hair?

give me some brands, price ,a n d storeIS there a shampoo that curls your hair?
    Hey there!

There are some shampoo's and conditioners that supposably curl your hair, but some of them do not work. Its easier for shampoo's to straighten wavy/curlier hair, but its harder for them to curl straight hair!

Here are some that made my hair curlier, but they arent shampoo or condioner!( the pictures are what the products look like, and you cna buy them at your local hair salon)

Products that work!: Redken Ringlet 07 Curl Perfector! What this does is makes curls come when you scrunch it, and eliminates frizz, and provides control to your hair!

Just scrunch your towel dried hair using the Ringlet 07 redken product! I love it and it works so well! After scrunching, you can blowdry your hair, low/medium speed-medium heat.

Then you can add more of the Redken ringlet 07 curling product and scrunch hair again once hair is dry.

Then add Lastly 2), product below!(it is called Curl Force17 Texturizing Spray Gel)-Check 3rd link!-use this product last after using Ringlet 07 or Elastic Works09

Other Redken products that work awesomely are the following:(I RECCOMEND Elastic Works09! It makes it so you can Mold curls =)!)(try the second link for more info!)

    1) Elastic Works 09! You can mold curls to your desire, and they last and stay for the day =)! Also prevents frizz!

Lastly 2) After applying one of the first 2 products(Ringlet 07 or Elastic Wroks09), apply Curl Force17 Texturizing spray Gel! It holsd your curls, for everlasting time =)

Thanks so much %26amp; good luck!

Check ALL the links for the 3 products i listed in order!(Use ONE of the first 2 products i mentioned, Ringlet 07 or Elastic Works09, and then use Curl Force17 Testurizing Spray gel to hold the curls! Now check out these links =)

Curl enhancing mousse, gel, or shampoo for semi-curly hair?

I am a MALE and I have tight, slighty curly hair. The problem is that my hair looks dull and my hair is curlier in certain spots than others and it looks sorta wierd to me. My hair was the same way when I was like 5, but when I turned 6, it got real dry, coarse, and lost it's texture.

Note: I don't know if genetic info is of any help, but my father's side are east indian mixes and they have curly hair. Most of the guys start out with dry, texture-less hait but ended up VERY curly as they reached their 20s.

When I turned 19 a few yrs ago, myhair became curly again but it's only SLIGHTLY. Is there any kind of mousse or something that can AT LEAST enhance my curls?

As for my hair looking dull, I pretty much know that I will need conditioner or something to treat that problem. How often a week should I use leave in conditioner though? That is my 2nd question.

If anyone has any WORTHWHILE tips on how to treat my hair problem, they will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.Curl enhancing mousse, gel, or shampoo for semi-curly hair?
Well I use Totally Twisted shampoo %26amp; conditioner by Herbal Essence and honestly it worked very well for my hair. It made it curl more and made my curls softer. I love it. It may work differently for different people though. Just try it and see how it works. I also found that washing my hair every 3rd day makes it a lot curlier. I still rinse it and condition it every day but on shampoo at most every other day. good luck! =)Curl enhancing mousse, gel, or shampoo for semi-curly hair?
I have extremely curly hair that is also dry and course. I have tried everything on the market for my hair. I have found what works best if Infusium 23 leave in conditioner. I don't know where you live so I don't know what it will cost you but I live in Missouri and it cost me just under $7 for a big bottle that will last me about a month and I have waist length hair. I don't know if the humidity affects your hair but this works great for that also. It will put a shine in your hair and if you kind of bunch your hair with your hands after you put the leave in conditioner in your hair it will enhance your curls and make it look a lot healthier. I hope it works for you. If you go to www.infusium23.com and join Club 23 they will usually send you a sample. I hope the information helps. Good luck.

Fekkai luscious curls (cream, shampoo, conditioner, & wave spray)?

Today i went too my local sephora store so i could find a product that would make my straight hair wavy (or allow me to scrunch my hair.) The lady suggested this line of products but she wasn't sure that it would have much of an affect on my hair considering my hairs straight. Has anyone used these products on straight hair %26amp; will they work or are they just for people with curly hair? Fekkai luscious curls (cream, shampoo, conditioner, %26amp; wave spray)?
If it is for curly hair, odds are it will curl straight hair (or make it wavy a bit.) It COULD be used for hair that needs more volume since these products don't weigh hair down.

After you wash your hair let it dry about halfway and apply your favorite styling product, mousse, gel, hairspray, ect. Then pull into a bun high up on your head and let dry completely. When you pull it out turn your head upside down and shake a little, and viola beautiful natural looking curls! Good luck!

    Tresemme Curl Moisturizing Shampoo&Conditioner?

Does the Tresemme Curl Moisturizing hair care line ruin or damage hair?

I have wavy/straight ugly hair, and I kinda want it to be curly or at least a bit more of a wave boost, naturally. Will it ruin or damage my hair? I still want to straighten my hair once in a while. Is this okay?

    Thanks.

Tresemme is amazing. The only thing it does is help your hair. I had the most damaged hair that I'd ever seen from coloring and styling it and I wanted it to be healthier so I bought their anti-breakage shampoo and their moisturizing conditioner and their heat-protectant spray and my hair is doing so much better and it takes a lot longer for me to get split ends.

It won't damage your hair.Tresemme Curl Moisturizing Shampoo%26amp;Conditioner?
Hello jessica, when using this products they can get a bit flaky and sticky, a friend said she used it, she has very thick, straight, long hair, and she did not seem satisfied, she told me she then got advanced techniques and it was less than six dollars and it worked really well, now she wears her hair curly all the time, also if you are interested in avon hair products that are very reasonable and good quailty that does not contain any toxic chemical that will damage your hair you can contact me

Any shampoo/conditioner makes your hair smooth and silky -- prevents damage hair from using straighteners/curl?

I know when school's back, I'll be doing alot straightening and curling my hair probably like all the time . So are there any shampoo/conditioner that will prevent damage hair ?? Or anything else you could recommendAny shampoo/conditioner makes your hair smooth and silky -- prevents damage hair from using straighteners/curl?
I use TRESemm茅 Thermal Recovery shampoo and conditioner, it makes my hair really soft and protects it from heat damage. The shampoo is in a black bottle and the conditioner is in a white one, both with a red cap. There's also the TRESemm茅 Heat Tamer spray that u put on right before u use heat products, that works well for me too. Its in a black bottle with a red cap. Garnier Frutise, is what I use and I have extremely curly hair.

I am buying pantene shampoo and conditioners. many new formulas from ice shiney to curl definition. Is it?

true that its the conditioners that gives the effect. in other words, shampoo is shampoo. its the conditioner that goes on last thats important? please inform me. thanks.I am buying pantene shampoo and conditioners. many new formulas from ice shiney to curl definition. Is it?
For the most part shampoo is shampoo, although, there are some that are a bit too harsh. But yes, conditioners make a world of difference. I think that you should buy the best conditioner that you can afford. I think that the pantene line is great.I am buying pantene shampoo and conditioners. many new formulas from ice shiney to curl definition. Is it?
i think the shampoo isn't as important but i know that a conditoner is important i bought that new pantene restortive for my daughter she has thick wavy fuzzy hair and it has helped straighten it and it is less fuzzy
I agree, I too have heard from several beauticians that Pantene is really not good for your hair.

Conditioners do make a difference. Make sure that you are buying one that is formulated to help you do what you want your hair to do.
    My beautician says:

You are washing your scalp with the shampoo. Conditioner is specifically for your hair. The reason why Pantane makes such a difference to your hair is because you switched shampoos. Anytime you switch a hair product after using another one that has had time to build on in your hair you will see a difference.
it is so the most important. when i use just shampoo my hair doesnt work 4 me its the conditioner.
DONT USE PANTEEN.........It has the same ingredients as mop and glow in it.......it also have panthenol in it....yes, that is a vitamin complex....but, it clings to your hair cuticle and suffocates it...and makes it fall out.......switch to a professional product...like biosilk...or biolage. put that panteen on your porcelain tub and it will shine like you wouldnt believe
I never noticed any changes when I used any of their products, other than my hair felt weighted down. When I asked my hair dresser about it, she was almost upset that anyone would use pantene anything. She said anything that started with a ';P'; wasn't any good for anyones hair, including Paul Mitchells stuff. If you get anything not professional, she recommended Sauve and Herbal Essence. I changed to Sauve, and my hair has never looked and felt so healthy. I've heard many times about using ';P'; products before, so there's got to be some truth to it.

The best is a new brand just coming out called ORGANIX. It has organic active ingredients and is sulfate free so it wont dry out your hair. They have different collections with different fragrances for various hair types. Organix has a Curling Citrus Mango Shampoo and Conditioner that is amazing. It smells awesome! You'll be able to get Organix over the next few weeks at Kroger, Target, Albertsons, Duane Reade, Safeway, etc. You'll love it!

    www.organixhair.com
It depends on your hairstyle naturally. If your hair is naturally very straight, shampoo and conditioner won't get it very curly itself. However, if your hair is naturally frizz, or wavy, some shampoo or conditioner may work for you. Herbal Essences came out with many new shampoo and conditioner for all types of hair, so I suggest you try one of those.
well i already have curls and i use garnier fructic, its ok...but i dont really notice the difference b/w shampoos/conditioners
the best thing to use is Garnier Fructics curl and shine shampoo and conditioner. it works great with the curl constructor after you wash and condition your hair apply the curl constructor and let air dry or dry with a diffusior
Curly hair is almost always dry hair %26amp; here鈥檚 why: Oils produced in the scalp don鈥檛 travel as easily down the hair shaft as they do with straight hair. We've found creamy, moisturizing shampoos work best for this hair texture. Look for wheat germ oil, shea butter %26amp; nut oils (macadamia, for example) in your shampoos. These tend to coat the hair shaft, trapping water inside.

Conditioners: More than any other hair type, women with coarse, curly hair must condition every time they shampoo. Look for an ultra-moisturizing conditioner made especially for coarse hair. Once a month use a hot oil treatment. For extra-dry hair, use an intense moisturizing treatment every 2 weeks.

Extra tip: Curly hair should not be washed every day. You鈥檒l only dehydrate hair %26amp; make it more frizzy %26amp; unmanageable. Another alternative to shampoo washings is to rinse the hair with water %26amp; then follow with a conditioner. Also, lay off the blow dryer (they tend to dry out hair even more) %26amp; let curls dry naturally.
My daughter, a competitive swimmer with long, naturally curly hair, SWEARS by Herbal Essences Totally Twisted products. She says it's great and deals well with the chlorine that she exposes her hair to on a daily basis.

By no means will tresemme curl moisturizing products will damage your hair. If anything, it will make it more silker becuase curly hair is usually more dryer and frizz prone compared to straight hair. You can definately use these products to give your hair more shape and bounce. You can still straighten your hair as you normally would. There are no harmful chemicals that can ruin you hair... don't worry

    You'll be finee.

No. I also have dark brown wavy straight hair. I use the same product, it has kept my hair very bouncy and it has a lovely fragrance. Try also tresemme volumizing moose, it really keep the hair bouncy and curly, without the white dry residue from other mooses, leaving the hair feeling natural and not stiff. I like to straighten my hair but I like my hair with alot of bouncy volume, I hate flat hair, the moose really helps. I hope I have helped.

Whats a Good Curl Defining Shampoo?

Thanks PeepsWhats a Good Curl Defining Shampoo?

Hi, im a hairdresser and for curls i reccommend the best. Kerastase BAIN OLEO CURL shampoo or CREME OLEO CURL which is a cream you put in after youve washed your hair its no rince but my clients swear by it, its not the cheapest and only hairdressers sell the products but its really good. Good Luck
Aveda Be Curly range is very good though expensive. If you had to buy one product get the Leave in Curl Enhancer (big tube like the conditioner). It's won lots of industry awards and is the only thing that tames my hair when the weather is humid.

Ooooh, I know someone who has really curly hair and she swears by the John Freda frizz ease shampoo for curls and her curls are always so nice!

I recommend Davines Love Shampoo, Lovely Curl Enhancing Shampoo for Wavy and Curly Hair.

IS there a shampoo that curls your hair?

Does that ';wash n' curl'; shampoo even work?

Ever heard of that shampoo... that you use and your hair ends up drying curly.

If it does work... do you think it would work on very VERY straight, medium thickness hair.Does that ';wash n' curl'; shampoo even work?
I got the book Curly Girl (by Massey) from the library a few days ago. I had considered myself to have dead-straight hair. I actually have a slight wave. Whether my hair dries straight or with waves depends on how I dry it. Any setting lotion or conditioner helps. Having the hair dry twisted or rolled or even just scrunched up makes a world of difference.

The test for this is to soak your hair and look at the ringlets or hanks when it's completely immersed in water. Squish the hair toward your head. If it just folds once, you have dead-straight hair. If it accordion-folds, then you have potentially wavy or curly hair.

Also check the videos at the JessiCurl website. They aren't limited to use with her products.Does that ';wash n' curl'; shampoo even work?
    DEFINATLY NOT.

it made my hair all tangly.

i think its mostly for people with the blow dry straight hair but if you dont blow dry it its curly..them people.
Nope!! IT doesn't work. Trust I've tried it. My hair is really straight, medium thick just like yours. It looked like I stuck my finger in a light socket!!! It didn't work on me. =/
I was really disappointed, it didn't work for me either. Starlit Waves by John Frieda worked a little better for me, especially if I spray it on, and then put my hair in one or two buns.
    I don't think that works. What you could do is this;

If your wanting curls then: get in the shower and bath as normal, when u get out comb ur hair and do little braids all throughout your hair. Sleep over night and in the morning take them out. Your hair will be perfectly curly!

    It works for me!
yeah i've heard of it...i wouldn't recommend it. i doubt any shampoo can turn straight hair to curly from just washing...just try curling your hair the old fashion way with a curling iron or curlers.
I've tried using that shampoo on my thin, straight hair, but all it did was make my hair frizzy and it didnt stay in long anyway.
Not for straight hair. It's for curly hair that needs more curl definition or for people w/ wavy hair. It's not worth it if you have straight hair. Not at all.
NO!!! The makers are liars!!! I have very thin hair and it didn't work at all... Bu the way the shampoo isn't supposed to make your hair curly right away it's that if you use it THEN curl ur hair with a curling iron it is supposed to make it stay better but id DOESN'T!!!
probably not.if it did people would not pay to have perms

Good luck.

I actually like the herbal essences curly hair collection. Because you have curly hair, you gotta remember to use conditioner and maybe a leave in treatment to keep your curls shiny and healthy.

Getting your hair cut in layers could help too.

My hair has some natural curl, but when I've used it, I've noticed more curl in it. Another product that will help after you use the curl n wash is L'Oreal's Studio line Pumping Curls--a curl enhancer. Your hair is not going to look like you had a perm, but it will be some curly, wavy.

I've used it.Does that curl 'n' wash shampoo actually work?
well it it seams that it doesn't work for every one so try it your self
only if you actually have curly hair
If you have some curl or wave in your hair and if your hair is not thick. I have wavy hair but it is very thick and it did not work in my hair.
it doesnt curl it all on its own. you have to either have curly hair or have a perm

If your hair is naturally straight, no product (except a perm) will change that. If you have a bit of curl, you can find shampoos and gels that help encourage your hair to curl.Is there a shampoo that curls straight hair?
There is no shampoo that gives you curly hair, don't waste your money trying to find one. You would have to curl it yourself. The shampoo for curly/wavy hair wouldn't help unless you already have curly/wavy hair. There are styling products though that can help give the allusion of curly hair if you style it correctly.
Most brands have shampoos and conditioner for wavy/curly hair. If you use them, your hair will turn wavy or curly. Also when you get out of the shower you can put in some curling mousse and cfurl sculpting gel.

    :) hope i helpeddd.
i think there are some gels you can just run through you hair or sprays that makes it curly but tell me if you find a shampoo that does :)

Wash N Curl Shampoo And Conditioner?

Does Wash N Curl curl your hair for you? Or do you have to curl your hair after washing with wash n curl? If No, then is there any shampoos that curl hair just by washing your hair in it?

You still have to curl it, but it is supposed to make your hair take a curl better and last longer. No shampoo is going to curl your hair but you could do a permanent to make it curly but then it would be that way all the time.

  • Wash and Curl shampoo??

I have natural thick wavy hair and I want it to be curly... Will wash and curl shampoo work for me??Wash and Curl shampoo??
No dear. Your best bet is to use curlers or take the time to curl it. Velcro curlers are pretty nice as long as you don't get them tangled in your hair. Try using a couple different sizes to vary the curl.

Should i quit using shampoo? would it be better to define my waves/curls?

ive heard that shampoo is like a drug for hair. therefore, i guess ill only use conditioner. any tips?Should i quit using shampoo? would it be better to define my waves/curls?
Okay you have to shampoo your hair, ultimately hair needs to be washed and conditioner does no wash your hair., but I do understand. Some shampoo's take out the natural oils/moisture in your hair, and being a girl with curls you know that, that is the last thing you want to do.

So here is what I suggest, you can do two things. You can buy the expensive shampoo that doesn't (or claims) to take out the oils in your hair. Or you can buy your preferred shampoo, and only use it every other day, or every two days if you like. And make sure you are using a good brand of conditioner, you could use Suave as a shampoo but you need a good lightweight conditioner. Matrix is my favourite, or maybe Tresemme

But, remember you can cut out some shampooing but NEVER stop conditioning your hair.Should i quit using shampoo? would it be better to define my waves/curls?
Shampooing washes away bad oils and good oils so you should shampoo but not every day. I usually will shampoo every other day and condition every day. It's also really bad to use store brand generic shampoos, they have a lot of additives that aren't good for your hair.
Not completely. Curlygirl.com recommends shampooing 1 or 2x a week. I usually go 3 days w/out shampoo... using just conditioner.

    Lauri
I would still use shampoo and conditioner. use a special shampoo if you like. and get some kind of product specially for curls...
well no cuz the shampoo is good 4 ur hair it makes it smile good n look nice n so is the conditioner n it not a drug its just good 4 ur hair
ur hair will be disgustingly dirt and oily if u dont use shampoo. the conditioner will make it more oily!
No, don't do that! Just get a curls and waves shampoo and conditioner...

if your hair has a bit of curl in it, i recommend herbal essences totally twisted shampoo and conditioner. i have slightly wavy hair, and it really brings out my waves. it works really well. i don't know if it would really work if you have stick straight hair, though. you'd need to use a curling iron if you want really defined curlsCurl shampoo?
My hair is really curly to and i use matrix curling spary u spray it in when ur hair is damp then u scrunch it for like 2 minutes then take a defuser to ur hair for volume
Your hair has to have some body and natural curl to begin with. No shampoo will make straight hair curly.
idk i tried lots of them 2 but they dont work
